Ecommerce photo editing with AI, one fix at a time

Keep the photo you have. Remove what should not be in it, change what is behind it, sharpen it, and size it for every channel, without a retoucher.

What is ecommerce photo editing?

Ecommerce photo editing is the set of fixes a listing photo needs before it can sell: a clean background, nothing distracting in frame, the right size and enough sharpness to zoom. Done with AI, each fix is one run on the photo you already have, with the product itself left exactly as photographed.

Editing changes one thing about a photo you like. If what you have is a plain photo and what you need is the whole set, that is an AI product photoshoot. Both are part of MotionArt's AI product photography toolkit.

The fixes, by job

Clean up a soft, dim or noisy photo

Sharpens, corrects the light and colour, and removes noise in one pass. The first thing to run on a phone photo before it goes anywhere.

AI photo cleanup

Remove what should not be in the shot

Paint over a cable, a price sticker, a stray hand or a person, and the area is filled with what was behind it. Only the painted area changes.

Remove objects from a photo

Change what is behind the product

Describe the new background in a sentence and keep the product exactly as photographed. A kitchen counter, a studio sweep, a marble slab.

Change the background of a picture

Cut the product out cleanly

A clean cut-out with the edges and fine detail kept, for a white main image or for your own layouts.

Remove the background

Fix one area and leave the rest alone

Generative fill for product photos: paint over the part that is wrong, say what should be there, and the rest of the photo is untouched.

Fix one area of a photo

Expand a photo that was cropped too tight

Extends the photo outward and fills the new area to match, so a square product shot becomes the wide banner or the tall story it needs to be.

Expand a photo beyond its frame

The marketplace rules the edits meet

A white main image

Amazon wants the product on pure white with nothing else in frame. Cut the background out, then place it on white with the listing generator.

Remove the background

A transparent cut-out

Shopify themes and ad builders take a PNG with no background, so the product sits on whatever the layout has behind it.

Make a transparent background

Enough pixels to zoom

Marketplace zoom needs the long side at 1,600 pixels or more. Upscale a small photo up to 4K before you upload it.

Upscale a photo

Anything else, in plain words

Straighten the bottle, warm the light, swap the cap colour: describe the change and apply it, no mask needed.

How AI photo editing works here

01

Upload the photo you have

A phone photo is fine. The tools work on the photo as it is, so a sharp, well-lit upload gives a sharper result.

02

Paint over the area, or describe the change

Mask-based tools (eraser, retouch, colour changer) edit only what you paint. The others take a sentence.

03

Download, or run the next fix

Each edit is a separate run on the result of the last one, so you can clean up, cut out and upscale the same photo in turn.

AI photo editing vs a retoucher

What it costs per photoA per-image rate, or an hourly one for anything beyond a backgroundA few credits per edit on the plans below
TurnaroundA day or two per batch, longer with revisionsUnder a minute per edit
A batch of 100 SKUsA quote, a queue and a deadlineThe same edit on each photo, as fast as you can upload them
RevisionsAnother round tripRun it again with a different mask or sentence
Where a retoucher still winsCompositing several products into one scene, and jewellery stones at macroNot here: send those to a retoucher and use MotionArt for the rest of the catalogue

The retoucher column describes the steps a brief involves, not a quote. The MotionArt column is the live credit price and the published plans.

Relighting, glare and colour casts, in plain words

Three fixes that need no mask: describe the change and apply it with the instruct editor. Each link below opens the editor with the sentence filled in; change the words to match your photo.

Relight the product

The photo was taken in flat or mixed light. Describe the light you want and where it comes from; the product itself does not change.

relight the product with soft window light from the left, keep everything else exactly the same

Remove glare

A bright reflection on a bottle, a screen or glossy packaging hides the label. Name the glare and what must stay readable.

remove the glare from the front of the bottle and keep the label text sharp, change nothing else

Fix a colour cast

A warm or cool tint from the room makes a white product read cream or blue. Say which colour should be true.

remove the yellow colour cast so the white packaging is a neutral white, keep the product and background otherwise unchanged

Try this fix

Check the result the way you would a retoucher's: the label text, the product colour and the shadow direction must match the photo you uploaded.

Questions before your first edit

No. Every tool on this page edits around the product or only inside the area you paint. The shape, colours, label text and logo stay as photographed. A full-photo tool like the enhancer sharpens and corrects the light; it does not redraw anything.
